Summer 2006
Hey guys! So the snow is gone, spring time is finally here and summer is just around the corner! Unfortunately, I'll probably not notice it because I'll be working so damn much. So much crazy stuff going on at work! A lot of management changes. One person got fired, my manager went on another leave for personal reasons and my old and very very cool manager is coming back to help out. Unfortunately, I'm being shipped off to another store for a month so I won't be there to see him! :( Why do good stuff always happen to other people, and crappy stuff happens to me?! Yeah...I know that's very whiney....but I need to do it. Just let me whine okay?

So I don't really have any big plans in the next few weeks....except to see V for Vendetta for the THIRD time next Tuesday. I want to see Thank You For Smoking too. That looks really good. I just realized that the summer blockbuster season is only a month away! Yay for summer movies!!! I'm so excited. I did this thing last year on my old blog where I posted pictures of all the summer movies I wanted to see. I'll do that again this year but I'm going to wait until all the studios release their summer previews. So far, only Sony and Fox have released their previews. Stay tuned for that!

I'm excited for Superman because I want to see how they're gonna do the flying thing. And does anybody know if this is a continuation of the Superman story or is this like a Batman Begins thing where they start over again?

Cool. I just made a similar post on my blog. I've got tons of stuff that I'm going to be working on in the summer. I'm going to be doing a lot of work on some of my old movies. I just spent $200+ on buying some new equipment for editting.
A movie post would also be a good idea, I've got tons I want to see this year. When I get back to Ottawa for a bit in May I'm going to try and catch a few things.

You have editting equipment? What kind of stuff? My friends and I have always wanted to film a movie but the editting was always the hardest because we don't have enough resources for that. We have the software but it's useless if you don't have the harddrive space or the fastest processor or a good graphics card.

Well only since about 2000 have I had the technology to do this beyond vcr -> vcr. That way though will always run into major problems. I had been playing with Adobe Premiere for years but never got the real hang of it until about 2001 when a few of my brothers friends asked me I could edit a movie they made. I had an ATI ALL IN WONDER card so I could do composite, S-VIDEO and standard RCA audio. I learned Premiere pretty fast that way. I still was able to do that on a fairly slow machine. Almost any machine could run version 6.5. I'm now using Premiere Pro since I last upgraded my computer. It depends on what the specs of your computer are what you can use. If you already have a 3D accelerator on your computer (like I do) instead of replacing it I was able to go and by the Sapphire Theatrix 550 Pro which has all the inputs you need. Then once you sub in to Premiere its fairly easy to do the basic stuff with your footage. I'm pretty advanced now since I've been doing this for about 6 years. Also a VITAL add-on to Premiere if you can get your hands on it is Boris Red. It does most of my special effects.

lol! I actually have all that software! I have Premiere Pro, After Effects, Boris Red, and a whole bunch of plugins like the Magic Bullet Suite. The only thing I needed was the space for it because I want to be able to work freely and capture as much footage as I can without having to worry if I'm going to run out. So I wanted an external hard drive for that. As for a 3D accelerator card, I don't have one so I would need to go out and buy one. They're just so expensive and it's the only reason why I haven't done anything with all the software I have. Also because I usually look at the best cards. The one I've had my eye on for a while was the GeForce 6800 GT (PCI-Express...because I think it's supposed to be faster than ATI)....BUT that's just wishful thinking because I think it's like 5 or 6 hundred dollars. I would probably have to settle for something a LOT less! lol
By the way...did you need to get the ATI All-In-Wonder because your footage was analog? Because with digital, you don't need S-Video and standard RCA audio. From what I understand I think all you need for digital is an IEEE-1394 cable. I have a digital camcorder so would it be worth getting the ATI All-In-Wonder?

Well I'm recording some VERY old stuff from VCR and an old video camera which is SVHS that I filmed a movie on in 2001. Its all analog so I needed the All in Wonder. If yours is digital you probably will just need the 1394 (FIREWIRE) connection. I'm sure you have the connection on a modern camera. Make sure you have the connection on your computer, I had mine built into my motherboard. If you don't have firewire built in you can grab a card and cable from dealsdirect (probably the best store in the east end.) I know my cable cost me less than $10.

Yeah I already have the firewire connection. I just need a good graphics card. I think if I can take care of that....I'll be all set! Now I'm all excited about it again.

You can record all your firewire media through Premiere Pro as well so you won't need any additional software!
