My New 24 Obsession

24 is back!!! And it's a 4 hour season premiere!!! Never, since Buffy has a TV show been as addicting and as amazingly written and acted as 24. I used to get so excited back in the old Buffy days everytime Tuesday came around. My brothers and I would make sure that we were completely isolated in the basement with just the TV. There was no messing around when a Buffy episode aired. Since that show ended, it's been hard to fill that gap. Only a few shows would actually get me to disconnect my phone and spend much of the day in anticipation...just waiting for 8:00 PM to roll around. It was pretty much like that every week for Buffy & Angel (Angel followed Buffy right after at 9:00 PM).

Some of the shows out there are quite worthy to fill the Buffy/Angel gap.

Lost, Desperate Housewives, Smallville....

They're close....but not quite. If I missed an episode, I can just get it off the internet. No big deal. But back then....missing an AIRED Buffy episode was not an option. I used to screw myself over time and time again with school, because I would have assignments, tests, and exams to study for, but no.... I couldn't miss Buffy!!

But now Buffy is gone....and then 24 comes along. For anybody looking to get into a new show... pick up the DVDs for 24. You will not regret it. It's just so good in every aspect imaginable. The storylines are amazing and addictive, the characters are so well written and acted (by far one of the most talented cast I've ever seen on TV), the look and feel of the show is wonderfully shot... the real-time concept is revolutionary.

Tonight, I'm going to devote 2 hours of my life to 24. Tomorrow night, I'll devote another 2 hours, because it's a double-header 4 hour season premiere. No phones, no interruptions, no distractions. I'm going to be completely submersed in it.

24 is my new Buffy.
